Q&A: Can I legally video-record the inside of a public retail store with my new Flip Video Camcorder?

Question by ~Khanokh~: Can I legally video-record the inside of a public retail store with my new Flip Video Camcorder?
I just purchased a Youtube Flip Video camcorder that records an hour of video, then plugs into the computer to upload the video to youtube to be viewed internationally in one minute. It’s very tiny (the size of a mini digital camera) so that it fits into my front shirt pocket while it’s recording without needing to be handheld, so that it can even record interactions with cashiers.

Can I legally video-record the inside of a public retail store with my new Flip Video Camcorder?
You seem a bit angry, angryman.

I’m asking a legal question.

You don’t have an answer so you got fearful.
Thanks, Teekno. That’s what I need to know. I don’t intend to record store cashiers, but I was posing the illustration to figure out the legality of it in general.
Now what if the camcorder is concealed so that I’m not asked to leave or turn it off?
I live in Chicago Illinois.

I still don’t seen why you would need to do such a thing. Perv.
